ADOS-2 REFRESHER AMINISTRATION WORKSHOPS
Modules 1-4
This is a one-day ADOS-2 refresher administration course for ADOS-2 clinicians who:
- Have recently trained but feel that they need more support to develop their administration skills.
- Trained previously but feel unconfident and would like to refresh their ADOS-2 administration skills.
The administration of ADOS-2 assessments affects the evidence for coding, it is an essential part of the process, and an area of particular interest for Lucy.
During the workshop we will:
- Review the role of the administrator, as we are the most important part of the ADOS-2 kit!
“The usefulness of the instrument depends upon the clinical skill and judgement of its administrator.”
(ADOS-2 manual, 2012)
- Go over administration of tasks, which includes sharing experiences, answering questions, relating observations to coding.
- Practise administering activities.
- Feedback on administration, identifying strengths and areas to develop.
- Discuss potential difficulties, as well as problem solve different situations that might arise during assessments.
Course Aims
- Increase competence and confidence in administrating activities from all four modules.
- Develop your skills in using ADOS-2 prompts in tasks and in social interactions throughout the assessment.
- Help adapt administration in different situations that are common in ADOS-2 assessments, such as assessing individuals with ADHD, high levels of anxiety, rigid behaviours, speech and language difficulties.
- Develop your skills scaffolding natural conversations during assessments.
- Gain a deeper understanding of your role as the administrator, and what this involves, e.g., monitoring what you say and do depending on the situation.

Frequently asked Questions
Who can attend these workshops?
These workshops are for anyone who is ADOS-2 trained but has not had sufficient opportunities to practise administering assessment tasks, or who needs a refresher in administration.
For example:
- ADOS-2 clinicians who trained remotely and have not practised administering ADOS-2 tasks and would like to gain some experience of administering activities in modules 1 to 4.
- ADOS-2 clinicians who carry out assessments but do not feel confident and would like to focus on administration to increase their confidence.
- ADOS-2 clinicians who have had a break in assessments and want to build up their confidence in administering assessment tasks across the modules.
- ADOS-2 clinicians who have trained and have not yet started doing assessments, which has made them lose confidence and want to refresh their skills.
Do we need our own ADOS-2 kit to do the Workshop?
No. Lucy has a lot of ADOS-2 resources and will bring these to the workshop for everyone to use and she will send you resources with instructions and prompts that you need to administer the ADOS-2 activities we will be practising, and give you laminated copies of these to use in the workshop.
Do we need to prepare for the workshop, e.g., read the instructions in the manual for administration?
No. You can read over the resources that Lucy will send you if you want to, but this is not essential.
How long is the workshop?
It is from 9 am till 5 pm, with two tea breaks and a lunch break.
Where are the workshops?
Lucy runs the workshops at 85 Wimpole Street. You can find the full address and directions here: https://lucysanctuary.com/clinic-rooms
It is a lovely space, with comfortable sofas and chairs, it has a homely rather than a clinical feel, and it is a really lovely place to practise administration and develop clinical confidence.
How much does the workshop cost and what does this include?
The cost is £250 per person. It includes:
- Going over administration of activities before we practise them, asking and answering questions on these.
- Practising activities from modules 1 – 4 with resources supplied by Lucy.
- Laminated instructions and prompts for tasks, which participants are emailed too so that they always have this resource.
- Discussion and feedback on administration, including problem solving different scenarios and situations that can happen.

- Working with Lucy to administer assessment tasks.
- Reflection and discussion on administration throughout the day.
