Fees, and Terms and Conditions For Therapy Sessions

Location of Sessions

Sessions can take place at client’s homes and in nurseries/schools. It is requested that a quiet environment is provided, free from distractions like phone and TV at home or noisy corridors at school. It is recommended that carers stay with the child during therapy sessions and that nursery / school staff are available to observe and discuss sessions.

Holistic Support

Regular support from everyone involved with a child is important in order to help the child progress and get the best outcomes from Speech and Language Therapy.

Assessment and Next Steps

Assessment may consist of more than one session, depending on the age of the child and the child’s difficulties, and may take place in more than one setting, e.g. at home, at nursery or school. Formal and informal assessments might be used to find out as much information as possible about your child’s speech, language and communication needs. Following assessment, I will write a report summarising and the findings, explaining the impact and making recommendations for support. I will set targets, make programmes and provide resources where appropriate.

Once the child’s strengths and areas of difficulty have been identified by assessment, I will recommend the most appropriate next steps. This might be weekly one-to-one therapy sessions, group therapy sessions, speech and language therapy goals and a programme to be worked on by carers, or advice and strategies. In some cases, therapy might not be appropriate depending on the outcome of assessment. I will always discuss options available via the NHS, and I am happy to work in tandem with the NHS if appropriate
